Clair Harvey Knutson, 97, died Sunday, September 11th at Barthell Eastern Star nursing home after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Madison Lutheran Church - 2658 Madison Rd, Decorah, IA 52101. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church Saturday morning
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Madison Lutheran Church.
Clair was born on November 6th, 1924, the son of Orville A. and Beathe K. Knutson. He was baptized November 30th, 1924, and confirmed May 21st, 1939, at Madison Lutheran Church. He attended Madison #4 Winneshiek through the eighth grade and farmed his family farm in Ridgeway. Clair was married to Helen L. Helgeson on September 3rd, 1946. Clair was proudly appointed to and served for many years on the board of the Decorah State Bank. Through the years, Clair enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, visiting with friends, and cheering on the Hawkeyes. He will be greatly missed by all.
Clair is survived by his wife of 76 years, Helen Knutson, his brother Marlyn (Karen) Knutson of Urbandale, Iowa, his granddaughter Lee (Ryan) Pietzsch and great-granddaughter Ellery Pietzsch of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and many loving nieces and nephews including Lester (Reyne) Knutson of Chatfield, Minnesota, Tim Knutson of Ridgeway, Kevin Knutson of Swisher, Kari Paulsen and Katherine Long of Urbandale, Michael (Debbie) Jewell of Washington, Kathy (Tim) Schoespke of Wasburn, Steve (Dede) Jewell, Jim (Julie) Jewell, and Karen (Dave) Broell of Waterloo, Tim Helgeson of Evansdale, Cindy (Mark) Klenzman of Waterloo, Bruce (Cindi) Helgeson of Dysart, Susan (Kirk) Plagge of Boise, Idaho, Lori (Mike) Ingram of Evansdale, and Denis Helgeson of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Knutson, son Thomas Knutson and daughter Corrine Knutson.
