Saturday, May 2, at 2 p. m. Julia Mestad, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Knut N. Mestad, passed away after an illness of more than sixteen weeks from complications of diseases which commenced with pneumonia and ended with inflammatory rheumatism. Julia was born Dec. 14, 1886, and reared to womanhood in this neighborhood. She was a pleasing disposition and numbered her friends by her acquaintances. She had always enjoyed good health and was of robust constitution and rugged build, and looked the very picture of health up to January 17, when she was suddenly stricken with that ominous disease pneumonia. She has been confined to bed ever since, and in spite of best medical care and careful nursing recovery failed to appear and death finally triumphed. She was a very patient sufferer, never complaining, and could cheer those who came to cheer her. She leaves besides her parents, one sister and four brothers, and a host of friends to mourn the loss of a kind and obedient daughter, a loving sister, and a true friend. Though we feel the loss keenly, we know she is in a better place, by the side of her God and Savior. So “God’s will, not ours, be done.”

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her name as Gurina and nickname Julia. She is buried in the Big Canoe Lutheran Cemetery.
