O. Dean Barnes

O. Dean Barnes, 69, of Ossian, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at the Postville Good Samaritan Center in Postville, IA.

Dean was born on August 14, 1935 at Iowa City, IA, the son of Leo J. and Lena (Smith) Barnes. He graduated from Roosevelt High School, attended the University of Iowa, and served in the US Army during the Korean War.

On September 6, 1958 he was united in marriage to Jean Ann Giblin in Cedar Rapids, IA.

He is survived by his wife Jean Ann, one daughter, Cpt. Brenda (David) Johnson of Ossian, IA, and one son, Bradley (Diane) Barnes of Clovis, CA; 3 granddaughters; three brothers, Richard (Marilyn) Barnes of San Diego, CA, Douglas (Joan) Barnes of Eugene, OR, and Ronald (Judy) Barnes of Washington, IA; and one sister, Marylon (Bruce) Cole of Rockford, IL.

His parents preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, July 16, 2005, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, with inurnment in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery at Parnell, IA.
