The Late D. A. Lewis.
Daniel Albert Lewis was born near Postville, Iowa on April 8th, 1870. His mother Elizabeth Lennon Lewis, died when he was three months old. He lived with his grandparents on Washington Prairie, the old home of the Lennon family. He received his education at Sacred Heart College, Prairie du Chien, Wis. At the age of 18 years he went to Madison, Minn., and taught school. From there he went to Menomonie, Wis., and engaged in the mercantile business. While there he married Miss Agnes Kenny of Menomonie. After remaining in business three years he sold his interests and engaged in the employ of the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha Railroad company and remained with them until the time of his death. ”Ab,” as he was familiarly called, was a favorite with his associates. He came to Decorah on Feb. 17, 1908, only a short time prior to his sudden death. While here he saw most all of his relatives and a good many warm friends. It looks very much like a premonition of what was to happen.
