OBITUARY.
MRS. PHILIP STOSKOPF
Mrs. Philip Stoskopf, whose death was recorded in last week’s REPUBLICAN, was born Sept. 10, 1876, near Pilot Mound, Boone county, Iowa. Her maiden name was Emma C. Dunkelberger. On September 29, 1899, she was married to Philip Stoskopf. She is survived by her husband, two infant children, her parents, three brothers and three sisters. In 1887 she was converted under Rev. E. J. Lange to the faith of the Evangelical Association, and remained a faithful member until her death, which occurred on the 15th inst. The funeral was held on Wednesday of last week. Services at the home being conducted at 11 o’clock and at the Locust Evangelical church at 1 o’clock. Because of the illness of Rev. J. W. Schwab, the paster, Rev. S. Saasman of Sumner officiated.
When the recovery of Mrs. Stoskopf became doubtful, she expressed the hope that she might be spared to rear and enjoy her children, but it seemed to be the will of her Maker that she should be taken and she gave testimony of her preparation to abide His decision. Her last moments were those of peace and happiness in the assurance of salvation, and it brought comfort to those about her to know that although the trial was a hard one to bear, she met it with the fortitude of one who dies in the faith.

Death Claims Young Woman.
The sympathy of a host of friends goes out to Philip Stoskopf of Canoe township, in the bereavement which came to him early Saturday morning in the death of his wife. The affliction is a particularly sad one because it robs two little children, one of two and the other only a week old, of the loving care of a devoted mother. Mrs. Stoskopf was a quiet, home-loving woman, and her duty to it and her husband was ever manifest in her care and thoughtfulness. To her husband she has been a true and loving companion and a helpmeet in the best sense of the word. In her passing those who lived near to her will mourn the loss of a good neighbor, and a wide circle of acquaintances will remember her with mingled feelings of kindness and regret.

Death’s reaper is cutting down a number in our vicinity. Another wife and mother was taken from us. Mrs. Philip Stoskopf passed away on the 15th. She leaves a husband and two little sons, one two years and one one week old, a father, mother, brothers and sisters who live at Pilot Mount, besides a host of friends to mourn her loss.

Oh, wife so kind, and mother dear,
How sad and lonely we will be
Without your loving presence here.
But God had need and called for thee.
We must submit our grief to bear,
While so lonely sounds the tolling bell.
As God saw fit to take you to his loving care
So as she rests with Thee, all’s well
(In memory of Mrs. P. Stoskopf, N. S.)

On Sunday the community was shocked and grieved at hearing of the death of Mrs. Philip Stoskopf on the previous evening. Have heard but few particulars, but doubtless they will be given by the correspondent from Northern Canoe. Mr. Stoskopf can feel assured of the deep sympathy of all who had the pleasure of an acquaintance with him and the dear one who has passed on before.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Emma who was born Sept. 10, 1876 and died Feb. 15, 1908. She is buried in the Locust Lane Salem Cemetery.
