Died in Utah.
News of the death of Mrs. Ethel Reed-Lane came as a shock to her family and friends last Friday morning. The day before a letter was received saying she was ill with typhoid fever and the news of her death followed in less than twenty four hours. Deceased was born in Decorah July 17, 1884{?}, and was the only daughter of Elias T. Reed. Her mother died when she was eight months old. With the exception of the last ten months her life had been spent in Decorah where she grew into a charming young womanhood, loved and esteemed by a large circle of friends. She was married Jany 21 last to Fred V. Lane. At the time of her death they were residing at Ogden, Utah. Besides her husband she is survived by her father, two brothers, grandparents, and a large number of other relatives. The remains were brought to Decorah for burial, arriving Monday and the funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at her father’s home. Rev. Margaret T. Olmstead officiating. Interment was made in Phelps cemetery. Among those who came from out of town to attend the funeral were Mr. Lane’s father and sister from Barry, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Ward from Madison, Wis., and Fred F. Reed from Dover, Minn.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she was born July 17, 1887 (which doesn’t agree with the above) and died Nov. 22, 1907.
