Darlyne Louise Perry, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully at Mercy Medical Center on Saturday, May 7, 2022.

Services were at 11 a.m., Tuesday at First Lutheran Church by Pastor Steve Knudson. Burial was at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. Teahen Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.

Darlyne is survived by two sons, Russell and Jim Perry; daughter, Janet (Greg) Robertson all of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Eugene (Jan) Sande of Lyndon Station, Wis.; sister, LaVonne “Bonnie” Syverson of Decorah; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; daughter, Jean Hill; parents, Sam and Jeanette Sande; grandson, Michael Robertson; and great granddaughter, Kylee Cagle.

Darlyne was born on June 8, 1931 in Decorah the daughter of Selmer “Sam” and Jeannette Haugen Sande, and she graduated from Decorah High School. On June 22, 1952 she married Wayne Perry in Decorah; Wayne passed away in 2016. Darlyne’s first job was as a manager for Montgomery Wards in Decorah. She then worked full time for many years as a bookkeeper/office manager until her retirement in 2001.

Darlyne enjoyed playing cards, baking, spending time in her garden and shopping, especially for shoes. She was an excellent planner and planned many family trips to see the Iowa Hawkeyes play in big sporting events such as the Rose Bowl and many basketball tournaments. Darlyne and Wayne also cherished the memories of an African Safari they took in 2005 where they hunted big game. Darlyne was very social and welcomed everyone to her home for holidays and family functions.

She was strong in her faith and was a devoted member of First Lutheran Church. Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church. Online condolences maybe left for the family at www.teahenfuneralhome.com
