Funeral services for Leo "Pat" Henry Floody, 66, of Castalia, were held Monday, Oct. 23 in St. Francis de Sales Church, Ossian. Rt. Rev. Msgr. V.J. Peters conducted the 11 a.m. rites. Burial was in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery. Mr. Floody died October 20 at the Postville Community Hospital where he had been a patient for one day. He had been in failing health for several years.

Pallbearers were Eugene Brennan, Earle Corlett, Wayne Dahms, Earl Smith, and Arthur Svendsen of Castalia and William Murphy of Ossian. Schmitz Funeral Home of Ossian had charge of arrangements. Military rites at the cemetery were conducted by the American Legion Post 503 of Ossian.

Mr. Floody, a retired railroad man and construction worker, was born September 13, 1906 on a farm south of Castalia to Henry and Bridget Byrne Floody. He attended St. Francis de Sales Grade School, the Castalia School, and Postville High School. Following induction into the Army in 1942 at Scott Field, Ill., he received his training at Camp Shelby, Miss. and Camp Claiborne, La. He was stationed at Skagway, Alaska with the Railroad Battalion and returned to the states in December, 1944.

Mr. Floody did construction work from 1944 until 1959 at Peoria, Ill., and has since lived in the Castalia area. He never married. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church, Ossian, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreigh Wars.

Surviving are a sister, Mary Floody of Castalia, and four nieces. Preceding him in death were his father who died in 1925, his mother who died in 1946, a brother James who passed away in 1960 and a brother Edward who died in 1969.
