JACOB FALCK
After patiently suffering for several months, Jacob Falck, a highly esteemed pioneer settler passed away at his home in Calmar, his faithful wife and all his children at his death bed to make as pleasant as possible his last hours in this world.
Jacob Falck was born Dec. 4, 1824 in Balbrou, province of Alsace, Germany, and came to America in 1854, locating at Pittsburg, Pa. He was married Aug. 6, 1851, to Anna Mary Glass. During this same year he came to Iowa and took up a government claim near Fort Atkinson, and returned to Pennsylvania and engaged as a teamster at the penitentiary in Alleghany City. In 1857 he with his family moved to his homestead near Fort Atkinson, Iowa, being one of the early settlers of this part of the state, where by frugality and industry he gathered considerable of worldly goods.
In 1893 after all his children were married he retired, from farm life and moved to Calmar.
For many years he has been a faithful member of the Lutheran church, and was one of the first members of the Iowa Lutheran Synod. He was one of those plain, honest, conscientious, just men—a character above reproach.
To him and wife four children were born, all of whom, with the wife, are living.
The funeral took pace Wednesday afternoon, May 23d, Rev. Blessin delivering the sermon. A large number of relatives and friends were present to witness the last sad rites. Truly a good man has reached the haven of eternal rest and peace.
