Ella Kneeskern was born in Winneshiek county, Iowa Nov. 19, 1859, and was married to John H. Kneeskern May 3, 1879. Unto them was born seven children, five girls and two boys, all of whom together with the husband, three sisters and one brother survive her. March 23d the Kneeskern home was burned to the ground and during the exciting experience Mrs. Kneeskern became paralyzed, which eventually resulted in her death Sunday morning, April 1st. She was a member in good standing of the order of Royal Neighbors, about twenty of whom from Postville, together with the local lodge, attended the funeral in a body and conducted the burial service at the grave. As a mark of respect to the departed sister the lodges furnished two beautiful floral wreaths. The funeral was conducted from the U. B. church here, Rev. Montgomery officiating. An unusually large number attended the funeral, in so much that many were unable to gain admission. The family of the deceased surely have the sincere sympathy of all in this dark hour of affliction. The body was interred in Pleasant View cemetery.
