ACCIDENTAL DEATH.
Ole G. Gjetley of Pleasant Died by a Load of Lumber Falling on Him.
Ole G. Gjetley of Pleasant township left Ingvoldstad’s lumber yard at shortly before six o’clock last Saturday afternoon and about noon Sunday his dead body was found under a load of lumber which he was hauling home, at a point about three hundred yards from his residence. Mr. Gjetley was preparing to build a new residence on his farm and when he left for town Saturday told his wife that he would be home early in the evening. The family waited for him until eleven o’clock and then retired. As he did not return in the morning, telephone communications were opened with Decorah and it was learned that he had started for home at 4:45 the previous evening. Mrs. Gjetley started for son Will out to see if he could find his father. He had proceeded but a short distance when he found the load of lumber and his father pinned beneath. The team was still hitched to the wagon. How Mr. Gjetley could have lain there all night and part of the next day without being discovered by someone, and his death reported, seems a mystery. A. T. Anderson, Richard Stoskopf and other neighbors were notified. Coroner Jewell was called and an inquest was held which developed the facts as given above. The jury returned a verdict of accidental death Mr. Gjetley was about forty years of age, a hard working, industrious man. He is survived by his wife and family of several children.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in 1858 and is buried in the Big Canoe Norwegian Cemetery.
