A PIONEER MOTHER AT REST
Grandma Thorgrimson, mother of {C. J. O. F. Jagerson of Springfield, died J. and Miss Marie Thorgrimson and Mrs.{?} Sunday on the 85th anniversary of her birthday. She was indeed one of the mothers in Isreal. Born in Norway, she came to America in 1848 with that band of countrymen who formed the first Norwegian settlement in Winneshiek county. She did not come here until 1854. However, living three years in Wisconsin, but when she did come it was to take up the home with her husband where the remainder of her days were spent. And how gloriously she spent them! It was her privilege to attend upon the birth of many of the children of her neighborhood., and they grew up to know and love her as “Grandma”. She helped to render the last services to the departed, and she and her husband gave liberally of their substance toward all good and benevolent works. Surely her children may well “rise up and call her blessed.” The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Springfield United Lutheran church Rev. K. E. Bakken officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: The first two lines above do not make sense. Find a Grave shows this was Ragnhild who is buried in the Springfield Cemetery.
