Old Freeport Resident Dead.
Malvina Safford was born in New York in 1835. She moved with her parents to Springfield, Ill., where she was married to William McKee. They came to Iowa in 1865. Eight children were born to them, two of whom died in 1900, the father dying in 1894. The children were all present at the funeral with the exception of the one residing in Spokane, Wash. A large number gathered at the funeral which was held at the Methodist church at Freeport, to show their last respects to the deceased. Rev. Burgess, a former pastor, made some appropriate remarks and the sermon was preached by Rev. E. G. Hunt. She had lived in and about Freeport for over forty years and bore a reputation for uprightness of character, faithfulness as a wife and mother, devoted to her friends. She united with the Methodist church at the age of twelve and remained a consistent member to the day of her death in the 71st year.
