Funeral services for Harry J. Brandt, 77, of 707 Washington street, Decorah, were held Saturday morning, Feb. 3 at St. Benedicts Catholic Church. Mr. Brandt died January 31 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital. A native of Winneshiek County, Mr. Brandt had also lived in Detroit Lakes, Minn. returning to Decorah 44 years ago. He had been employed as a salesman and driver for Hamms Distributors.

Father A.P. White conducted final rites at the church and the Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronald Rude, Richard Richardson, Dean Eidenschink, Charles Eidenschink, Michael Jensen and Marvin Brandt. Alan Sensor was organist, and Marlin Fretheim was soloist.

The Catholic Daughters recited the Rosary at Steine Funeral Home on Friday, and a prayer service was held Friday evening.

Mr. Brandt is survived by four daughters and three sons, Mrs. Harold (Margaret) Jensen, Mrs. Roger (Gladys) Rude and George Brandt, all of Decorah, Mrs. Russell (Alice) Richardson of Canton, Minn., Mrs. Dan (Catherine) Barta, Cedar Rapids, Matt Eidenschink, Decorah, and Jerry Eidenschink, Cresco. Other survivors are 31 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one brother, Wallice Brandt of Klamath Falls, Ore. and a sister, Mrs. Walter Johnson of Winona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Mary Brandt; his wife, the former Mary Riewer Eidenschink, and two brothers.

Mr. Brandt was born February 11, 1895. He attended county rural schools and served overseas with the U.S. Army in World War II. He was married in Detroit Lakes, Minn. in April 1925, and his wife died May 4, 1969.
