George Hills, age 79, of Salt Lake City, UT, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Oct. 14, 2021.

George Chelton Hills was born Feb. 20, 1942, the son of Robert and Erma (McGee) Hills, in Laurel, Delaware. He was baptized and confirmed at the Church in Laurel. He attended school in Blackstone, Virginia and Laurel, Delaware. After high school he joined the United States Air Force where he served for 21 years. He served at Castle Air Force Base, California, Zaragoza, Spain, Moron, Spain, Glasgow, Montana, Davis Monthan Tucson, Arizona and Plattsburgh, New York. In 1979 he retired from the Air Force but continued as an engineer in the flight simulation business as a civilian in the Defense Industry.George was married to Ana Borrego Oliva in Spain. Together they had two daughters, Irma Maria Quezada (Francisco) of Townsend, Delaware and Teresa Elizabeth Hills of Phoenix, Arizona. They later divorced. George married Margaret Engebetson in Fairfax, Virginia in 1986 where they lived until 1995 when George was transferred to Arlington, Texas. He worked for Hughes Electronic in Texas until 2001 when they moved to Salt Lake City, UT. George completed his career at Evans and Sutherland in Salt Lake City. Upon retirement in 2002, George and Margaret purchased a Fifth Wheel recreational vehicle. They toured the country, visiting family and friends for nearly 10 years. George was an avid hunter and fly fisherman. He often made his own flies as well as bamboo fly rods. He loved woodworking as well as golf. Margaret and George continued to live in Salt Lake City.

George is survived by his loving wife Margaret, his two children, Irma Hills Quezada (Francisco) of Townsend, Delaware and Teresa Hills of Phoenix, Arizona, his two grandchildren, Jaquelin Quezada and Raquel Quezada of Townsend, Delaware, his four step children, Gary Allan (Lan) of Westcliffe, Colorado, Janet Law (Bruce) of Suffolk, Virginia, David Engebretson of Jamestown, Tennessee, and Margie Sabine (Steve) of Olga, Washington, and five step- grandchildren, Meredith Law Paul (Todd) of Smithfield, Virginia, Jordan Law (Samantha) of Suffolk, Virginia, Erik Engebretson (Jessica) of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Morgan Sabine of Santa Monica, California, and Dana Sabine of Olga, Washington.George was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Erma Hills and his brother Bruce Hills.

George has donated his body to the University of Utah School of Medicine. His remains will be interred at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church in Decorah, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at Hilltop United Methodist Church in Sandy, Utah on Nov. 27, 2021.
