Funeral services for Frank P. Cronin, 77, of 307 Francis Street, Decorah, were held Wednesday, Oct. 18 at St. Benedicts Catholic Church. Mr. Cronin died October 15 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital.
Father A.P. White conducted final rites. Pallbearers were Harold Cronin, John Cronin, John Carolan, Robert Carolan, James Henry and Mark Sutton, and Alan Sensor was organist. Burial was in St. Benedict's Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home.
A native of Waucoma, Ia., Mr. Cronin had lived in Decorah the past 45 years. He was a veteran of World War I having served overseas with the U.S. Army and was a member of the D.A.V. He also was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen; nine children, Grace Vikre, Mesa, Ariz., Eleanor Cronin, Marshalltown, Ia., Mrs Arlin (Patricia) Stevens, Mrs. Allyn (Gladys) Mincks and Marjorie Mincks, all of Decorah, Robert and Joseph Cronin, Waterloo, Janice Cronin of Marshalltown and Francis Cronin at home.
Other survivors are 32 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Leo Cronin, New Hampton, and a sister, Mrs. John Carolan, Decorah.
Three brothers and his parents preceded him in death.
Frank Cronin was born August 22, 1895 in Waucoma, the son of George and Julia Cronin. He was educated in the rural schools and was married November 28, 1921 to the former Ellen Beck in Independence, Ia.
