On the morning of May 31, 2021, (Memorial Day), Beverly Berg, loving mother of four daughters, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home in Davenport, IA. Beverly Virginia Emery was born on December 12, 1931, in Winneshiek County, Iowa to parents Vera Louise (Conklin) Emery and John George Sever Emery. She shared fascinating tales of growing up on the farm in Bluffton Township.

Bev married Jerome Kyle Sanderson of Decorah, Iowa in 1950. They lived in Delmar, Iowa and both worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa. Bev became a homemaker when her first child was born. When Jerome died in 1965, Bev returned to Decorah with her three young daughters. Bev married Arnold Berg in 1972. They had one daughter. They later divorced. After working at Eastern Star Nursing Home for over 20 years, Bev retired and moved to Davenport, Iowa.

Bev had countless qualities that were admired by all that loved her. She had a beautiful heart and loved unconditionally. She was humble, hardworking, patient, selfless, wise, and always commended a job well done. She was filled with grace and gratitude. She gave the best hugs, never letting go first. Bev was ever-present and embraced simplicity and all that nature offered. She loved spending time outside gardening, planting flowers, hunting mushrooms, picking berries, camping, and admiring the moon. She had a special connection to animals, especially family pets. Bev valued family and showed love to others by preparing home cooked meals and delicious desserts. Dinner was served every evening at 5:30.

Later in life, she loved reading and was proud to receive a handwritten letter from her favorite author, David Baldacci, on her 89th birthday. Bev did not like crowds or being the center of attention unless she was at the casino celebrating a slot machine win. She took great pride in her carriage house on the Mississippi River and always had a strong sense of “home”. She loved going for cruises in her VW Beetle convertible. Her quiet strength has transcended generations and her spirit will forever live on.

Beverly is survived by three daughters, Valerie Tindall (Gordon) of Lanesboro, MN, Jeralyn Gunderson (Chris) of Postville, IA and Barbara Berg of Davenport, IA; grandchildren Jerome, Cody, Tyler, Ridar, Calvin, and Josie; great-grandchild Mason; sister, Nell Ewing of Cedar Falls and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vera; husband, Jerome; daughter, Pamela Sanderson; sisters Lenora Seliger, Betty Guhl, and JoAnn Emery; brothers Raymond, Thomas, Roger, Merlin Dean, Arland, and Jessie.
