Dropped Dead in his Wagon.

The acquaintances of A. Gminder were very much surprised last Friday by a telegram announcing his sudden death at Postville. It was the first intimation that he was not at home. It seems that on Thursday afternoon he had a quarrel with his family, and hitching up his horse and wagon, left town without telling where he was going. We are informed that he was seen in Ossian the next day, where he said he was going to Prairie du Chien. Later in the day he drove into Postville, spoke to his horse in that gentle whisper of his and dropped over dead in his wagon. An inquest was held and the coroner’s jury returned a verdict of death from heart disease. It is surmised that a recent decision of the Supreme Court against him for violation of the liquor law in bootlegger times, superinduced mental excitement and worry which augmented a tendency toward heart disease. He was a man of very irascible temper, and frequently flew into violent passion over trival matters that others would pass over as unworthy of notice. He has been a resident of Decorah for upwards of twenty years, working at different occupations until a few years ago when he began running an express. His remains were brought from Postville last Friday, and the funeral and interment occurring Sunday.
