Anna Iverson, age 102, of Decorah, IA passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Wellington Place in Decorah.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue in Decorah with Rev. Peter Kowitz presiding. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
Anna Marie (Rohm) Iverson was born on August 26, 1918 to Ole and Thorbjorg (Skaftedal) Rohm at home on Oak Street. She was baptized on September 22, 1918 and confirmed in 1932 at the Decorah Lutheran Church. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1936. She married Leonard Iverson on May 16, 1947 at Big Canoe Lutheran Church. They had a daughter, Lois, born on December 6, 1947.
She was a bookkeeper and treasurer at the Decorah Creamery for ten years, took care of her mother for fourteen years, worked at the old hospital answering phones at night, and worked at Anthony’s for seven years.
Anna taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. She belonged to many circles and enjoyed 50 plus. She helped to sew, pin, and tie quilts for church. She made lap robes for the Aase Haugen nursing home. She also helped start a quilters club and belonged to other ones.
She enjoyed crocheting, doing embroidery works, reading, coloring pictures, and going fishing. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and also living in the same home for over 90 years.
Anna is survived by her daughter Lois (Calvin) Wendlandt of Decorah, IA. Grandsons: Eric (Cecilia) Wendlandt of Saginaw, MN and Jason (Trisha) Wendlandt of Thomson, GA. Great Grandchildren: Tyler Wendlandt, Justin Wendlandt, Ivy Hoffman, Jasmine Hoffman, Brandon Lightfoot, Trey Lightfoot. Great-Great Grandchild, Carter Lightfoot. Sister-in-law, Audrey (Homer) Hanson. Good friends: Mary Ann Haugen and Dorothy Sunday.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Ole and Thorbjorg Rohm. Her husband, Leonard Iverson. Brothers and sisters: Arnold (Dolores) Rohm, Martha (Charles) Rosendahl, Marvin (Ruth) Rohm, Mabel (Oliver) Eittriem, Esther (Harry) Barrett, and Erling (Marie) Rohm. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Violet (Arnold) Paulson, Walter (Dorothy) Iverson, Irvin (Beatrice) Iverson, Evelyn (Gilbert) Ellingson, Mario (Raymond) Stortz, Ruth (Leonard) Severson, Thelmia (Rev. Milford) Sheldahl, and Virgil Iverson. Step daughter: Darlyene Iverson. Nieces, nephews, and friends.
