Bev was united in marriage to Merlin I. Tangen on June 17, 1951 in Decorah. They were blessed with eight children: Mary, Linda, Cheryl, Butch, Gordon, Marc, Lee, and Justin.

Merlin and Bev farmed with his brother for many years, then they farmed on their own for 20 years. They retired in 1988 and moved into Decorah. She was a longtime member of Glenwood Lutheran Church then joined Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Decorah. She was active in church circle at both churches.

She cherished visiting with friends and family, going to grandchildren’s events, and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved Halloween and Christmas every year and started planning for them in July. At Halloween, she had a big bowl of candy out for everyone and made a bag of candy for everyone in her family. She really liked Nordic Fest and being an active participant in the Lutefisk eating contest every year.
