Hovden, Elvin O. 1911 - 1974

HOVDEN, FRYE, STROTHMAN, FAKLER

Elvin O. (Mons) Hovden, Madison Township farmer, died November 2 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital at the age of 63. He was a native of Winneshiek County and, together with other business interests, had farmed all his life in the Ridgeway area.
He was a veteran of WW II, a member of the Madison Lutheran Church, the American Legion and the VFW.
Funeral services are being held today (Tuesday, Nov. 5) at 2 p.m. at the Madison Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor William Thalacker will officiate, and arrangements are being made by Steine Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Wayne Hovden, Emmett Hovden, Harlynn Hovden, Robert Haugen, Kenneth Olson and Maynard Hovden. Music will be furnished by Mrs. Alton Hovden, organist, and Mrs Maynard Hovden, soloist.
Elvin Hovden was born April 16, 1911 the son of Even and Olena Hovden. He was educated in the Ridgeway Public Schools.
He was married November 30, 1960 to Alma Frye, and she survives as well as four brothers, Gerald Hovden, Ridgeway, Lynford Hovden, Burr Oal, Kermit Hovde, Sprng Valley, Minn. and Otto Hovden, Ridgeway and two sisters, Mrs. Fritz Strothman, Red Wing, Minn. and Mrs. Frank Fakler, Hugo, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Helmer and Arnold.
