Death of Wallace W. Bailey.
From the Republican and Leader of Friday last we learn the following facts concerning the death of Wallace W. Bailey, of La Crosse, formerly of Decorah, and a brother of Mrs. D. E. Reed.
This morning, at six o’clock, at his home, 315 N-Ninth-St., after five months of pain and suffering, Mr. Wallace W. Bailey died of consumption, aged fifty-four years, eight months, nine days. The deceased came to La Crosse three years ago, and, until his illness last June forced him to give up labor, he was in the employ of his brother, Frank Bailey, in the shoe store on Main St. Steadily declining from the first attack of the grim destroyer, his condition became worse and worse until death came.
Mr. Bailey was born in Chicago, March 20, 1841; was married at Decorah, Iowa, in 1866, to Miss Margaret Greer: served through the war of the rebellion in an Iowa cavalry regiment, and was honorably discharged. Surviving the deceased are his wife and their four children: Mrs. H. Wells, Miss Minnie Bailey and Bert Bailey, of this city, and Mrs. E. Hall, of Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Mr. Bailey was a member of the 6th Iowa Cavalry. The funeral occurred Sunday afternoon, Wilson Corwell Post, No. 38, G. A. R., of La Crosse, having charge of the services.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in LaCrosse. WI.
