Death of Robert Grant.
By an obituary published in The Advance, of Chicago, we learn that Robert Grant died at his home in Rochester, N. Y., on the 20th of July last, aged 72 years and 10 months. For a quarter of a century, or more, Mr. Grant was one of the best known citizens of the Pocket City, and active in every “good word and work.” He was one of the charter members of the Congregational church of that place: was active in Sunday school work, and was one of the organizers of the State Sunday School Association. He was also an active, earnest Republican and very efficient as a party worker in the best sense of the term, as he had a genius for organization and the management of details. For many years he was attached to the revenue service as a deputy collector in this district under Gen. Trumbull and J. E. Simpson. After the election of Cleveland he removed to his old home in New York where he remained until his death. The REPUBLICAN wants to put on record its belief that he was a true, pure man, who by his life exemplified the principles of the religion ho professed and loved.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Sept. 21, 1822 and is buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Rochester, NY.
