DIED.
STORTZ—At his homestead in Canoe township, on the 12th instant Lorenz Stortz, aged 85 years.
Mr. Stortz was born in Wurttemburg, Germany July 17th, 1810. He was married in Germany, and came to this country in 1846, locating first at Racine, Wis., in the fall of 1859, he came to town, and bought the farm, thou wild land, on which he lived until he died. His wife died six or seven years ago, To them nine children were born of whom six survive, These are John, George, Charley and Miss Joanna, living in Canoe township, Mrs. Albright of La Crosse, and Andrew, living In Nebraska. He retained his mental faculties to the last moment, but had been blind for more than a dozen years. Death ensued after a few hours illness resulting from complicated hernia. The funeral services were held from the Catholic church in Decorah on Monday morning last.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in St. Benedict Cemetery shows his name spelled Lawrence.
