Death of an old Resident.
Mrs. Maria Hogan, widow of James Hogan, died in this city on the morning of the 19th, after an illness of nearly two years’ duration, in which she was a great sufferer. Deceased was born in Ireland, married in Illinois, and came to Decorah in 1858, and has resided here until she died, four living children survive. These are Mrs. Mallie, Mrs. Halloran, and Patrick and Thomas, The funeral services were held Tuesday, a large company from the surrounding country attending. High mass celebrated by Father Garrahan, Fathers Cooney, of Plymouth Rook, and Ryan, of West Ridge, the latter preaching the funeral sermon. The deceased was an excellent mother, and highly respected by all who know her.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she was born June 16, 1834 and is buried in St. Benedict Cemetery.
