McMULLEN—- At her home in Canoe twp., Win¬neshiek Co. Io., Feb. 14th, 1895, Mrs. Martha Matilda McMullen, aged 73 years, 7 months and 18 days.
Sister McMullen was born of Scotch parents in Armagh, Ireland. In April 1840, she married Robert McMullen and the same year they came to America and settled in McHenry Co.. Ill. In 1854 they came to Iowa, where they have since resided. Her husband died in 1878. She was raised a Presbyterian; but, since coming to this country, she has not united with any church. For a few years past, she has been a believer in the near coming of Christ and kindred truths, and desired to obey the Lord in baptism but failing health prevented. The most of her family are members of the A. C. church in Burr Oak, Iowa. Words of comfort were spoken by the writer from 1 Thess. 4-18.
