—The Elkader Register reports the death at South Bend, Ind., of Capt. A. F. Tipton, whilom* editor of the Elkader Register, and from 1878 to 1884 a mail agent from La Crosse to Dubuque, He was Capt. of Co.-I, 8th Iowa Cavalry in the War of the Rebellion, and was 58 years old.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Jan. 31, 1837 and died Feb. 14, 1895. He is buried in Bowman Cemetery in South Bend, IN.
