Wendy Dotzenrod-Ney, age 53 of Decorah, IA passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

A private family service will be held on Saturday, February 27, at Stavanger Lutheran Church with Rev. Terry Landsgaard presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A celebration of Wendy’s life will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Silver Springs Country Club, 1392 Co Rd W42 in Ossian, IA.

Wendy Ann Dotzenrod-Ney was born on November 26, 1967 the daughter of Elwyn Jr and Judy (Bowles) Dotzenrod. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1986. Shortly after graduation, Wendy began working for Rockwell Collins in Decorah. She married Daniel Spilde and together they had two children: Hailey and Hunter. They later divorced. She worked at the Amish store in Decorah for a short time before working at Elaine’s downtown Decorah. Wendy purchased the business and ran it for many years as Wendy’s on Water. She was most recently working for Midwest Group Benefits in Decorah. Wendy married Kraig Ney on January 12, 2015 in the Dominican Republic. She was a member of Silver Springs Country Club, Oneota Country Club, Stavanger Lutheran Church and was always a big supporter of Nordic Fest serving as the secretary in 2008 and the President in 2012. Wendy loved to socialize with her many friends and family. She enjoyed designing and flipping houses and taking trips with Kraig and many of her friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Wendy loved her dog Frankie and especially her two grandbabies, Kipton and Cali.

She is survived by her husband Kraig Ney, Decorah, IA. Children: Hailey (Dustin) Carolan, Iowa City, IA and Hunter (fiancé, Samantha Hoyland) Spilde, Decorah, IA. Grandchildren: Kipton and Cali Carolan. Parents: Elwyn “Junior” and Judy (Bowles) Dotzenrod, Decorah, IA. Father and mother-in-law: Kenneth and Karen (Schroeder) Ney, Ossian, IA. Brother and sisters-in-law: Karla (Terry) Gossling, West Union, IA; Konnie (Tim) Olson, Clermont, IA; Kendall (Jodi) Ney, Little Suamico, WI and Kendra (Joel) Hageman, Lanesboro, MN.

Wendy was preceded in death by her grandparents: Elwyn and Phyllis Dotzenrod and George and Eleanor Bowles.
