Our community was shocked last week on learning of the sudden death of Dr. James Gregory at Maquoketa on Friday of diptheria. Just two months previous we learned of the death of his amiable wife. Dr. Gregory was located here some years ago, and had a host of friends, who deplore his untimely death.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in Elwood Cemetery in Clinton County shows he was born Nov. 7, 1862 and died Oct. 16, 1896.
