Arlene Lensing, age 87 of Calmar, IA, died on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, IA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, IA with Rev. Daniel Knipper presiding. Burial will be in the St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Calmar.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. The service will be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/CFOSparishes
Everyone attending will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Arlene Julia (Bruess) Lensing was born April 19, 1933, the daughter of John and Caroline (Bodensteiner) Bruess, the seventh of ten children. She attended school in St. Lucas graduating high school in 1951. She helped with housework and taking care of children when families had newborns. Arlene met her husband at a dance at the Lawler Ballroom in Lawler, Iowa. On October 6, 1953, she married her love, Stephen Lensing at St. Lucas Catholic Church in St. Lucas, Iowa. Stephen and Arlene farmed NE of Calmar. Arlene helped with chores and was a loving, caring mother busy raising their ten children. She was gifted, playing the piano and accordion by ear. Arlene enjoyed polka music, dancing, fishing, golfing, gardening, baking, quilting, playing cards and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Arlene was an active member in the Rosary Society, Foresters, American Legion Auxillary and SW Country Club. Arlene had strong spiritual belief and was a caring and patient person. She would hope we all strive to include this in our lives.

Grandchildren: Brian, (Tiffany) Hackman, Andy (Trista) Hackman; Adam (Carrie) Eichenberger, Thomas “Joe” (Lea Norberg) Eichenberger, Sara (Corey) Claeys; Terri (Eric) Argotsinger, Brent (Katie) Lechtenberg; Matt (Michelle) Tupy, Nicole Tupy and Lisa (Bryan) Winther; Mitchell (Calsey) Lensing, Mark (Shantel) Lensing, Michala Lensing, Keith (Belle Hemesath) Lensing, Garrett (Regan) Lensing, Nathan and Morgan Lensing; Luke (Brandi) Hackman, Jill (Brady) White and Neil (Kristen) Hackman; Leia, Maddi and Rocky Lensing; Wade (Jennifer) Teslow, Ryan (Katie) Teslow; Cody (Alisha Lienau) Lensing, Cassy and Samantha Lensing; Zachary Lensing. Brother-in-law: Bruno Lensing, Marion, IA, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Stephen Lensing. Parents: John and Caroline (Bodensteiner) Bruess. Grandson: Scott Lechtenberg. Brothers and sisters: Lucille Bruess, Lucille (Gus) Lechtenberg, Alice (Alphonse) Bullerman, Art (Irene) Bruess, Cornell Bruess, Donald (Evelyn) Bruess, Jim (Betty) Bruess, Wilma (Stanley) Franzen and John Bruess. Father and mother-in-law: Joseph and Elizabeth (Schmitt) Lensing. Brothers and sisters-in-law; Daniel (Dorothy) Lensing, Gordian (Valeria) Lensing, Roman Lensing, Roche Lensing, Myra Lensing, Lois Lensing, Verda (Harlan) Mikota, Victor Timp and Norbert Retterath.
