Capt. M.A. Moore Died at Omaha. Aug. 4th.

The following is from the Omaha Bee of the 5th inst.:

Martin A. Moore died yesterday morning at 4 o’clock, aged 69 years. He had been ill ever since January 1, but the announcement of his death was a shock to his friends, who had hoped for his recovery. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock from his late residence. 615 East Pierce street. The deceased was born in Hartford, Conn., and was married in New York in 1848, to Miss Phoebe Anna Smith who still surivives. He moved from Decorah, where he had lived 15 years, to this city, in 1881, and ever since his arrival has been a prominent contractor. He leaves three children – Byron, Edward and Anna.

This undoubtedly is Capt. M.A. Moore, a business man who resided and was a merchant at Burr Oak, prior to the war, and who enlisted men enough to become Captain of Co H, 9th Iowa volunteer infantry. The particulars as to age and birth place are identical with his enlistment papers in the Iowa Adjutant General’s record of the 9th regiment, and he is the only person of that full name known to have lived in this vicinity, for any length of time. His whereabouts have been lost sight of for the last fifteen years, or more.
