ADELBERT REED, who has slowly faded away as a victim to that enemy of the human race, consumption, closed his eyes in death on Monday last, aged 38 years and 11 months. He was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Reed, born at Postville, but all his youth and early manhood were spent in Decorah. In 1880 he married Miss Matilda White, who died in 1891, also a victim of consumption, leaving to him two children who are now orphans indeed. It is thought that “Dell” contracted his disease, in the care of his wife. For years he made a brave and vigorous fight for life; but it was in vain, and he has gone to his long home in the very prime of manhood, respected and beloved by all who knew him. His funeral was held from the home of his afflicted parents yesterday forenoon, Rev A. G. Wilson, officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in 1858 and is buried in Phelps Cemetery.
