OBITUARY.
MRS. AMANDA J. WHITE was born December 22, 1833, and died January 2, 1897.
Deceased was born in Tonawanda, N. Y. Dec. 22, 1833. She was converted in early life, and united with the Baptist church, of which she has been a faithful, consistent and earnest member ever since. March 13, 1859, she was married to Henry Baumwart, and together they moved to Iowa, locating In Springfield township in Winnesheik county. Five children were the result of this union, four of whom still survive. In 1865, she moved to Canada, where her husband died Aug. 17th, 1865. The following year she returned to Iowa, where she has resided ever since. In May, 1870, she was married to Mr. H. W. White. There was one child as a result of this union. During the last three and one-half years she has resided with her son, B. M. Baumwart, at West Union, Iowa. Christmas morning, Friday, Dec. 25th, 1896, she was taken suddenly ill with pneumonia, and departed this life Jan. 2, 1897. Arthur Baumwart and wife and two children, of Ossian, Burlin Baumwart and child, of West Union, Gideon Baumwart, of Little Turkey, Grant Baumwart, of Omaha, and H. Everett White and wife of New Hampton, were present to pay a last respect to the memory of a loving, devoted and faithful mother. The funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 5, at the Baptist church, at 10 A. M„ conducted by Rev. E. R. Gillett, resisted by Rev. Jno. Gammons, of the M. E. church. The remains were interred in the Centennial cemetery, near Ossian.
