OBITUARIES.
MRS W. D. KELLOGG.
After a long illness from dropsey Mrs. W. D. Kellogg died on Thursday last in the sixty-second year of her age. Mrs. Kellogg's maiden name was Carrie Vincent and she was born in Grand Pre, Kings Co., Nova Scotia. Early in life she lost her mother and came to the United States with her father, settling at Monroe. Mich. Here she became converted and joined the Wesleyan M. E. church. After a few years they moved to St. James, Minn., and here she affiliated with the M. E. church, joining same by letter from the church at Monroe. On April 11th, 1864, she was married to Dr. W. D. Kellogg and came to Decorah to reside. With the exception of a few years when they lived in South Dakota the family home has been here ever since. Up to the time of the organization of the Baptist church Mrs. Kellogg was a member of the M. E. church here, but transferred her allegence to the former church and has been one of the earnest workers in its behalf. Her husband and one son, Vincent, survive her.
The death of Mrs. Kellogg is a sad affliction to her husband who looked forward to her companionship in his old age. Unable to keep on with his dental practice he now goes to Perry, Iowa, to make his home with his son Dr. A. M. Kellogg.
The funeral services were held last Saturday morning at the Baptist church and interment was made at Freeport There were present from abroad to attend the funeral Dr. Arthur Kellogg and wife, Cresco, Mrs. A. M. Kellogg, Perry, and Miss Hattie Kellogg, Milwaukee. Wm. Kellogg, of West Superior, arrived Saturday evening, too late for the services.
