Oliver Kinyon died very suddenly Tuesday morning, Oct 4th, at his home four miles cast of Burr Oak and two miles south of Hesper of apoplexy. He was a man 76 years of age and the day before his death was in his usual health, being able to go to Mablel{sic}. The morning of his death he complained of not feeling well when he got up, and laid down again. He died between nine and ten o’clock. He leaves a wife and several children. The funeral services will be held in Burr Oak, Thursday Oct. 6th, at 10 o'clock, Dr. Philip Slack, of Hesper, officiating.

Oliver Kenyon, who died near here, last week, was a fine old gentleman, who was respected by all. The cause of his death was fatty degeneration of the heart. He felt quite well until the morning he died, but as soon as was awake he told his wife he felt badly across his lungs and breast. A physician was sent for almost immediately, but before he arrived, Mr. Kenyon had passed away within less than one hour from the time he was taken ill. We extend our sympathy to the friends and relatives in their sad bereavement.

Oliver Kenyon, whose death was briefly noticed in last week’s “Burr Oak Knots,” was born in 1822. In 1845 he and Miss Melvina Hazel were united in marriage, in Portage Co., Ohio. They came west in ’58 or ’59 and settled in Hesper township on the land now owned by their sons Newton and Perry. Mr. and Mrs. Kenyon held a life lease of the farm and had been living just a week in a new house in which they had a prospect of spending several years of comfortable old age. Besides the widow there are four daughters and three sons who live near and who are comfortably situated.
