OBITUARY.
WILLIAM MARLOW was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, July 1st, 1817, and died in this city, Saturday, Sept. 10th, 1898, aged 8l years, 2 months, and 9 days
In early infancy his family moved to Knox Co., Ohio, where he grew to manhood, and was married, May 15th, 1843, to Miss Elizabeth Mulford. To them five children were born, the only one of whom now living being Mrs. G. C. Hull, of St. Cloud, Minn. Soon after his first marriage he moved to Wyandot Co., Ohio, settling near Upper Sandusky. Here he was elected sheriff and served two terms, afterward being admitted to the bar and for a few years followed the practice of law. In l856 his wife died. He was married a second time, Sept 10th, 18{?}, to Mrs. Mary Anderson. The result of this union was a son and daughter, the former dying in infancy. The daughter, Mrs. Anton Arneson resides in this city.
In 1866 Mr. and Mrs. Marlow came to Iowa and settled in Canoe township, this county, where they continued to reside until about four years ago, when they moved into Decorah.
Mr. Marlow was the oldest of a family of five sons and three daughters, and besides his wife and two daughters, one brother, E. G. Marlow, of Canoe, and two sisters, Mrs. Boggs, of Decorah, and Mrs. J. C. Bowers, of Blencoe, survive him.
The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the house, Rev. M. Willett officiating; and the remains were taken to the family lot in the Russell cemetery for interment. The funeral was largely attended by old friends and neighbors, and also by the Masonic fraternity, of which he was an active member in his younger days.
