The remains of a youth named Johnny Steele, were brought to Decorah Tuesday for burial beside his mother, who died while the family lived in this city. At that time Johnny was crippled with hip disease. His father is an engineer on the B., C. R. & N. Railway. The Cedar Rapids Republican reports the young man’s death in this way.—
Saturday morning at the home of his father, John Steele, at No. 814 North First street, west, occured the death of Johnny Steele at the age of 22 years, after a lingering illness of consumption. The funeral will be held from St. Patrick’s Catholic church Monday morning at 6:45 o'clock, conducted by Father Sullivan, after which the remains will be taken to Decorah for interment.
Johnny Steele was a bright little fellow who had a host of friends, who will learn with deep regret of his death, and who will extend sincere sympathy to the loved ones who have been called upon to mourn his death. He is survived by his father, one brother, and a sister, Mrs. King W. Ellis.
