JESSE B. SHAW died in Decorah last Friday, March 4th, aged 87 years. 10 months and 11 days. Mr. Shaw was born in Albany Co., N. Y., April 27th, 1810, and was one of a family of fifteen children. In his young manhood he first taught school, but later was employed by the Hudson Bay Co, in surveying and locating mineral land north of Lake Superior. In 1848 he moved to Illinois, where on May 18th he married Mrs. Amanda Campbell They moved to Union Grove, Wis., at once and engaged in farming. Here their only son. Eugene C. Shaw, was born. In 1865 they came to Iowa and located near Decorah. While visiting in California Mrs. Shaw died. In 1884 Mr. Shaw was again married to Miss Emily Robinson, of Lockport, N. Y. She, with E. {?} Shaw, and two sisters Mrs. Hannah Olds of Eden, Mich. and Mrs. Geo. Patrick, of Chickasaw Co., Iowa, and three brothers, Dr. Henry Shaw, of Roscoe, Ill. , Coomer and Abraham Shaw, of Lockport, N, Y , survive him. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Kev. M, Willett officiating.
