Anna West, widow of Abraham West, was born in the state of New York, March 13th 1799, nine months before George Washington died. She was married to Abraham West in 1822, and in 1831 they moved from Now York to Michigan, in 1853 they again “went west” and settled in Fillmore county, Minnesota, where they spent the remainder of their lives. “Aunt Anna” “fell on sleep” Jan. 13th, 1898, lacking but two months of having completed ninety-nine years of a cheerful, busy and helpful life. She was the mother of ten children, six daughters and four sons; four daughters and two sons surviving her. Two of the daughters, Mrs. Horace Kingsbury and Mrs. Robert Benedict, of Fillmore county, were at the funeral, which was held in Hesper, on the 16th. Mrs. West was a “birthright” member of the society of Friends and for many years was a regular attendant at the meetings in Hesper. Of her it can truly be said that the world was better for her having lived in it.

Subscriber’s Note: Her gravestone in Hesper Public Cemetery shows her husband’s name spelled Abram.
