Mrs. W. H. Oxley died at the home of her daughter Ida, at Corwith, Iowa, last Friday The remains were brought to her home near the Centennial church at which church the funeral occurred Tuesday at 11 o’clock a. m., the Rev. Dickensheets officiating. A large concourse of neighbors and friends turned out to pay their last respects to the dead. All five children were present at the funeral. We are not in possession of an obituary of the deceased.

OBITUARY.
CHRISTENA ANN TOWNSEND was born in Rose county. Ohio, April 12, 1837, came to Clayton county, Iowa, in l847, and to Winnesheik county in 1847. Was married to Wm. H. Oxley Dec. 9th, 1857. To this union were born seven children, five of whom survive her. She died at the home of her daughter Mrs. E. H. Oxley, of Corwith, Hancock county, Iowa, Nov 17th, 1899, having the respect and love of all who knew her. Mrs. Oxley was one of the earliest pioneers, having come to thins county while it was practically a wilderness. She was a consistent Christian and labored for the education and happiness of her family and for the good of all. It says well said of her, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
