While Mrs. Barker was visiting at her son Dave’s near Sibley she received the sad intelligence that her husband Chas. Barker, who was at home in Michigan, was dangerously ill. She went post haste home but arrived to find him dead, he having been sick but a part of the day. He was in his 75th year, and has had rather poor health for several years back. His daughter, Mrs. J. J. Van Wey, of this place, was quite stunned by the news. Mr. Barker was a resident of our community, having moved away seven years ago. He leaves a wife and five children to mourn his departure.
