Dr. Simeon H. Drake Dead.
We find in the last West Union Gazette the following obituary of one who was a resident of Decorah and vicinity in his boyhood, and until after his graduation and engaging in medical practice:—
We learned early in the week of the death of Dr. Simeon H, Drake, which sad event occurred at his home in Choteau, Montana, on the 31st of May, after a most painful illness from spinal meningitis. Dr. Drake was for many years a successful practitioner here, and is kindly remembered by a wide circle of our people. Dr. Drake was born in Boston, May 1, 1838. He was married to Cecelia{sic} J. Henderson, at Edgewood, Ia., March 23, 1864, who survives him with three children. He was a graduate from the U. I U in 1863, receiving the degree of A. B., and later his alma matter conferred upon him the degree of A. M. He graduated from the Chicago Medical College in 1869. He enlisted in the army as a member of the 33th Iowa, serving most of his time at headquarters of the General commanding the gulf.
