Brett Styve, age 21, of Calmar, IA, died on Sunday, September 13, 2020 in Stewartville, MN.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2020 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah with Rev. Robert Gross presiding. Burial will be in the St. Benedict Cemetery.
Everyone attending is asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel, 202 South Washington Street in Calmar and also after 10:00 a.m. at the Church in Decorah on Friday morning.
In Lieu of flowers: memorials may be given in Brett's memory to his family.
Brett Joseph Styve was born on November 29, 1998 to Paul and Heather Styve in Decorah, IA. He was baptized at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah. Brett received his first Holy Communion and Confirmation at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar. He attended pre-school at St. Benedicts in Decorah. Brett attended South Winneshiek elementary and middle schools in Ossian, IA and graduated from South Winneshiek High School in Calmar. After high school, he attended RCTC Community College in Rochester, MN where he graduated with an Associate Degree in Business. He worked for a Rochester delivery company for a while and then moved on to working for the Canadian Pacific Railroad as a Conductor trainee. He and his dad had a love for trains since he was a baby.
Brett was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved fishing on the Mississippi River and in Canada with his dad and playing golf. Brett played youth football, junior high football, high school football and college football. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Brett is survived by his father and step-mother: Paul (Joni) Styve, Calmar, IA. Mother and step-father: Heather (Guy) Lindquist, Rochester, MN. Half-sister: Shelby (David) Brust. Half-brothers: Henry and Louie Lindquist. Grandparents: Greg (Alexis) Wisted. Great grandparents: Nyle (June) Wisted. Aunts and Uncles: Gerald Styve, Evi Styve, Elaine (Jim) Sims, Wyonne (Ron) Priebe, Nyle (Megan) Wisted along with many cousins and friends.
Brett was preceded in death by his grandparents: Peter and Hazel Styve. Uncle: Ron Styve. Aunt: Willie Styve.
