Died at Washington.
The death of T. B. Wood, at Washington, was reported to family relatives here last Tuesday in a letter from his son. The event occurred on the 16th; beyond that no particulars are given.
“Bent,” Wood was the first "devil” in the REPUBLICAN office, and partly learned the printer’s trade under our senior. In 1863, although only a kid, he enlisted and managed to get into the army as a “drummer boy," along with Eugene Tubbs, in the 38th Iowa. Bent was soon assigned to duty at Gen. Herron’s headquarters, and was headquarters printer for the last half of his term of enlistment. After the war he returned home, worked at his trade, and, was interested in publications in Decorah and Calmar. Subsequently he secured a position in the government printing house at Washington, and being an expert printer remained an employee therein until he died. He married Miss Relf, a sister of Mr. Jas. T. Relf and Mrs. John T. Baker, of this city.
