We have just heard the very sad news of the death of Fred Allen of pneumonia. He is a brother of our neighbor Mrs. James Kneeskern.

After a few days’ sickness with pneumonia, Fred Allen died at his home, three miles northeast of here, Feb. 7th. Although sick but a little over four days, he was a great sufferer, and there seemed no hopes of his recovery from the first. He was born June 14th, 1867, on the farm adjoining the one on which he died, hence had been a resident of this township over thirty-one years. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn his loss. Fred was a kind husband and loving father, and did all he could to make home pleasant. He was a member of the A. O. U. W. Lodge of this place, and the funeral was conducted by the order. The following resolutions were passed by the lodge—
WHEREAS, It has pleased Almighty God to take from us our brother, Fred Allen: therefore, be it
Resolved, That in the death of Bro. Fred Allen we lose a faithful member, and his family a kind husband and loving father; that while our sympathies cannot heal the grief that hangs over the grief-stricken home, we nevertheless extend to the bereaved wife and children our heartfelt sympathy in their affliction, and commend them to God, the Savior of all mankind, and who has prepared a place where the faithful may finally be united.
Resolved, That the charter be draped in mourning for thirty days, and that the station held by the brother be filled by appointment for thirty days.
Resolved.,That a copy of these resolutions be entered in the journal of the lodge, a copy sent the family of the deceased, and that copies be furnished the Loyal Workman and local papers for publication.
