—W. E. Smith, local agent of the U. S. Express Company, received a telegram, Monday, announcing the death of his mother in New York state. The telegram also stated that a sister and brother-in-law were very ill. Mr. Smith departed that evening for the east, expecting to arrive in time to be present at his mother’s funeral.
