Pioneer Passed Away.
John W. Thune, who was a pioneer of Glenwood township, died at his home in Decorah Tuesday afternoon, at four after an illness of some duration. Bright's disease, followed on {illegible}day last by a stroke of apoplexy. Mr. Thune, was a native of Norway, born Dec. 1st, 1823, and emigrated to America in 1849. He first settled in Wisconsin, residing there until 1850, when he came to this county and {illegible} in Glenwood township, near Washington Prairie. In 1853 he was married. He continued to reside in Glenwood township until 1894 when he came to Decorah and has since resided here. Mr. Thune was a devout Christian, a kind neighbor, and friend, who won esteem and respect from all who knew him. The funeral services will be held to-morrow and the remains will be interred in the cemetery at Washington Prairie.
