Ardith Triska, age 88, of Decorah, IA died on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse, WI.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2020 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah with Rev. Donald Hertges presiding. Burial will be in the St. Benedict Cemetery.

Visitation will be held after 10:00 a.m. at the Church on Friday morning.

Ardith Mary (Schissel) Triska was born on January 4, 1932, the daughter of John W. and Irene (Einck) Schissel on a farm near Calmar, IA. Ardith attended St. Aloysius Catholic School in Calmar and then moved to Decorah, where she graduated from Decorah High School in 1949. Ardith was united in marriage to Leonard Triska on June 20, 1949 at St. Benedict Catholic Church. To this union, six daughters were born: Ruth, Julie, Terri, Patricia, Sandy and Dianne. Together they farmed southwest of Decorah. In 1979, they moved to Decorah. In 1980, Ardith went to work for the Decorah Community School District helping in the lunch program for 12 ½ years. Ardith was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church while in the Spillville area and a current member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. She did volunteer work for St. Benedict Catholic Church and was a member of the CDA. She also volunteered at Eastern Star and the Aase Haugen Nursing Home. Ardith was an avid card player and enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends. She also liked going fishing and having coffee with her coffee club group at McDonalds. Above all, Ardith loved and cared for her family.

Ardith’s survivors include her six daughters: Ruth (Tom) Boeding, Nevada, IA; Julie (Jeff) Johnson, Ankeny, IA; Terri Wiltgen (Bob Haines), La Crosse, WI; Pat (Jay) Courtney, Coralville, IA; Sandy (Kris) Fadness, Austin, MN and Dianne (Darren) Young, Lakeville, MN. Fourteen grandchildren: Jacquelyn (Barry) Tewes, Brad Boeding, Josie (Andrew) Burg, Lee (Kara) Einck, Travis (Xica) Wiltgen, Brittany (James) King, Devan (Ryan) Kaduce, Tyler Courtney, Ryan (Ashleigh) Courtney, Zachary Fadness, Sela Fadness, Signe Fadness, Alex Young and Emma Young. Nine great grandchildren: Tanner, Collin and Owen Tewes, Brody Burg, Charlie Kaduce, Mila King, Olivia Wiltgen, Brayden and Brooks Einck. One sister: Kathleen (Eldon) Vine, Clear Lake, IA and her nieces and nephews.

Ardith was preceded in death by her husband: Leonard Triska on Sept. 22, 2007. Parents: John W. and Irene (Einck) Schissel. Her father in-law and mother-in-law: Albert and Rose Triska. One brother: John W. Schissel, Jr. Sisters-in-law: Evelyn (Clarence) Mrachek and Eunice Denk.
