OBITUARY.
Last week it was a painful duty to record the death of Mrs. Sarah Green. To-day we are called upon to write the obituary of the aged partner of her joys and sorrows for over 69 years—a period seldom surpassed in the annals of marriage
Andrew N. Green was born in Onedia county, New York, May 29, 1822, was married to Sarah Kingsley Oct 17, 1842, came west to Minnesota in 1856 and removed to Iowa in 1866.
His death came four days after Mrs. Green passed away, hastened by the shock of her death and his own feeble condition. His daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rivers, remained after the burial of their mother to assist his daughter Ada in his care, doing all in their power to ease his grief and loneliness, but when it ended in death, they could not mourn for he was at peace. Mr. Green has lived among us for nearly fifty years, a quiet citizen, kind in his family relations and respected by his neighbors and friends. He was very devoted to his wife, generally agreeing with her views on all subjects which were nearly always correct “Peace to his ashes.”

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in Kendallville-Eddy Cemetery shows the name spelled Greene. His wife’s obituary gave the year they were married as 1843.
