Buried In Decorah.
The remains of Ole G. Johnson, notice of whose critical illness was contained in our last issue, were brought to Decorah, Tuesday morning, and yesterday interred in the Phelps' cemetery. Mr. Johnson was a member of one of the pioneer Norwegian families of the county, his father being Germond Johnson, who, with his brother Nelson, came to Winnesheik in the early summer of 1850 and settled in Springfield township. For a number of years he was engaged in business in Decorah. In the latter part of the ‘80’s he secured a position as farmer on the Brule Indian agency in South Dakota, since which time he has resided in that state. Mrs. Johnson, who is a daughter of the late L. L. Cooke, accompanied the remains to Decorah.Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone shows he died in 1899; however, this newspaper is dated 1900. It also shows he was born in 1843.
